Singer Zayn Malik honored his former bandmate Liam Payne during a concert in Leeds, England. The concert was held on Saturday, November 23, at the O2 Academy. This was the first show of Malik’s Stairway to the Sky Tour.
At the end of the concert, the stage lights went off for a moment. When they came back on, a tribute for Liam Payne appeared on the screen. The message read:
“Liam Payne 1993-2024. Love you bro ❤️.”
Zayn’s song “Stardust” played in the background. The tribute made many fans in the audience emotional.
Liam Payne died earlier this year after falling from a hotel balcony in Argentina. He was 31 years old. Payne was a member of the famous boy band One Direction, along with Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles. The band became very popular worldwide.
Zayn left the band in 2015, and the rest of the group went on a break in 2016. Even though they worked separately after that, they always had respect for each other.
After Liam’s death, Zayn wrote a heartfelt message on Instagram. He said Liam had been a good friend during hard times. “Liam, I talk out loud to you, hoping you can hear me,” Zayn wrote. “You were always there for me when I was homesick as a teenager. You made me feel loved.”
Zayn also said that Liam was very talented and strong-minded. Even though they had arguments sometimes, Zayn secretly admired him.
Last week, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Harry Styles attended Liam’s funeral. It was held at St. Mary’s Church in England. The bandmates arrived separately but were joined by their former tour manager, Paul Higgins.
As a tribute to Liam’s love for Batman, the cars used at the funeral showed the bat signal.
Liam is survived by his parents, Geoff and Karen, his sisters, Ruth and Nicola, and his 7-year-old son, Bear. Bear’s mother, Cheryl Cole, also attended the funeral.
Liam Payne’s death has deeply saddened his family, friends, and fans. Zayn Malik’s tribute during his concert reminded everyone of the special bond the One Direction members shared.
Even though the bandmates now live separate lives, they will always be connected by the memories they created together. Liam will always be remembered for his kindness, talent, and the joy he brought to so many people.
