Fans of the musical movie Wicked now have a fun way to join the magic. A sing-along version of the movie’s soundtrack has been released!
The new album, called Wicked: The Sing-Along Soundtrack, includes 11 songs from the movie, but the lead vocals have been removed. This means listeners can sing the lead parts themselves while enjoying the same orchestra and background vocals from the original soundtrack. The album was released digitally by Universal Pictures, Republic Records, and Verve Records.
A statement about the album says, “It’s the perfect opportunity for Wicked fans to flex their vocal muscles and become their own favorite lead vocalists on the soundtrack. The sing-along soundtrack provides all citizens of Oz the unique ability to sing their favorite Wicked songs with the film’s cinematic orchestra and cast of background vocalists.”
Even more excitement is on the way. Starting December 25, special sing-along showings of the Wicked movie will take place in about 1,000 theaters across the United States, Canada, and some other countries. These showings will have lyrics displayed on the screen so fans can easily follow along. The screenings will also include a special introduction by the movie’s stars, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, who play Elphaba and Glinda.
Both the movie and the original soundtrack have been very successful. The soundtrack set a record on the Billboard music charts, becoming the highest debut ever for a stage musical adapted into a movie. It also had the biggest sales week of any soundtrack this decade.
The movie has also received several award nominations, including four Golden Globe nominations. Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were both nominated for acting awards, and the film earned 11 Critics’ Choice Award nominations.
Fans of Wicked have even more to look forward to. The sequel, *Wicked: For Good*, is planned to be released in theaters on November 21, 2025.
For now, the sing-along soundtrack and movie screenings are great ways for fans to enjoy the music and feel like part of the magical world of Oz!
