A new documentary about Luigi Mangione, the man accused of killing United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson, will air in February. The documentary, called Who Is Luigi Mangione?, is being made by the TV network Investigation Discovery (ID). It will explore how someone like Mangione, who came from a rich and privileged background, could be involved in such a serious crime.
The project is being led by Dan Abrams, who is well-known for reporting on legal cases. Abrams has worked on TV shows for ABC News and hosts a legal program called Dan Abrams Live. He will appear in the documentary along with other experts and people who knew Mangione. They will discuss his behavior, mental health, and the events that led to his arrest.

This is the third project announced about the Mangione case in one day. Earlier, a producer named Stephen Robert Morse, who worked on a Netflix documentary about Amanda Knox, said he is creating a film about the crime. Another production company, Jigsaw Productions, is also working on a separate documentary about the case.
The crime itself has shocked many people. Brian Thompson was killed on December 4 outside a hotel in New York City. Five days later, police arrested Luigi Mangione, who is 26 years old, in Pennsylvania.
The ID documentary is being produced by a company called Twist Media, along with Abrams’ media group Law & Crime. ID is known for its popular crime stories, such as Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV and Chris Brown: A History of Violence.
This new special, Who Is Luigi Mangione?, will look closely at the case and try to answer some big questions. Why would someone commit such a crime? What might have been going on in Mangione’s mind? The documentary hopes to give viewers a better understanding of this tragic event.
