Renowned singer Usher celebrated his first wedding anniversary with his wife, Jennifer Goicoechea, in a truly heartfelt way—by serenading her with a surprise song performance.
Usher and Jennifer exchanged vows on February 11, 2024. To mark this milestone, Usher performed a rendition of Robin Thicke’s song “Angels” and shared the touching moment on Instagram.
In the video, Usher is seen playing the piano and singing the emotional lyrics. Alongside the performance, he penned a sweet message to his wife:
“Happy Anniversary, Boogs! I’m so happy the universe brought us together. God truly blessed me. You’re my angel.”
The couple tied the knot at “The Fast Lane” drive-thru wedding tunnel in Las Vegas, a venue famous for its quick and unique ceremonies, where couples can get married without leaving their car.
For the occasion, Usher donned a striking black and white asymmetrical tuxedo, while Jennifer looked radiant in an off-shoulder white pantsuit, paired with stylish white glasses and elegant cream gloves.
Following the ceremony, the newlyweds hosted a grand celebration. Jennifer added a personal touch to her outfit by wearing a long white veil embroidered with the words “Mrs. Raymond 02.11.24”, a nod to her new last name and their wedding date.
Usher and Jennifer first sparked dating rumors when they were spotted together at a birthday party in June 2019.
Their relationship blossomed, and they welcomed their daughter, Sovereign Bo, in 2020, followed by their son, Sire Castrello, in 2021.
Usher is also a father to two older sons, Usher V and Naviyd Ely, from his previous marriage to Tameka Foster.
Usher shared that their wedding was a last-minute decision. After obtaining their marriage license, they decided to go ahead with the ceremony as the Super Bowl approached, thinking, “Let’s just do it now!”
Reflecting on the day, he said, “It was one of the easiest weddings I’ve ever experienced in my life.”
At the 2024 Apollo Spring Benefit, where Usher received the “Icon Award”, he took a moment to express his gratitude to Jennifer during his acceptance speech:
“My wife Jennifer, you are my best friend. Thank you for your love and support. I love you so much.”
In an interview before the wedding, Usher opened up about his views on marriage, saying:
“When you find someone who truly wants to share life with you and loves you for who you are, it’s an honor and a blessing.”
He added, “We have already committed to each other for life because of our children. But beyond that, Jennifer is an amazing partner whom I deeply respect.”
