Tom Hardy, who plays Venom in Sony’s Spider-Man movies, isn’t ready to say goodbye to his character just yet. Even though “Venom: The Last Dance” is set to wrap up the trilogy, Hardy is excited about the idea of Venom fighting Spider-Man. He talked about this during New York Comic Con, sharing his hope to bring Venom and Spider-Man together in a movie.

“I would love to fight Spider-Man. I would love to fight him now. I’m happy to fight Spider-Man today, 100 percent,” Hardy said. “I would never say never.”

Fans have been waiting for a showdown between Venom and Spider-Man for a long time, but so far, it hasn’t happened. Venom’s movies focus on Eddie Brock (played by Hardy) and his connection with the alien symbiote, which gives him his powers. Hardy has played Venom in two movies so far, “Venom” (2018) and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” (2021), and “The Last Dance” will be the third and final movie in this series.

“The Last Dance” picks up where the second movie ended, with Eddie and Venom on the run. According to the official plot, they are being hunted by both their human and alien enemies, and they’ll have to make a tough choice that could change everything.

While this might be the end of Eddie and Venom’s story, it might not be the end for other symbiote stories. During the Comic Con event, director Kelly Marcel teased the introduction of a new villain, Knull, in the upcoming movie. Knull is an ancient, powerful character from Marvel Comics who created the symbiotes, and fans got a glimpse of him in the movie’s trailer, where he’s seen sitting on a black throne with long white hair.

“This is just the introduction to Knull,” Marcel said. “He’s a massive, massive character, so you can never be one-and-done with him. This is just a little taste of Knull. We get to meet him. What the future holds for him, who knows.”

Even though Eddie Brock’s story will end, Marcel hinted that there are more symbiote stories to tell in the future. This could mean new movies focusing on different characters in the symbiote world.

Along with “Venom: The Last Dance,” Sony has another movie in the Spider-Man universe coming out this year called “Kraven the Hunter.” This movie stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kraven, a famous Spider-Man villain who hunts dangerous animals. “Kraven the Hunter” will be Sony’s first R-rated Spider-Man spin-off, making it different from the Venom movies and “Morbius,” which had PG-13 ratings.

The cast of “Kraven the Hunter” includes Russell Crowe as Kraven’s father, Ariana DeBose as his love interest Calypso, and Fred Hechinger as his brother, Chameleon. Other characters include Alessandro Nivola as the villain Rhino and Christopher Abbott as the mercenary known as the Foreigner.

These two movies, “Venom: The Last Dance” and “Kraven the Hunter,” are the only Spider-Man-related films from Sony with release dates. Another movie, “Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse,” is also in the works, but it doesn’t have a set release date after being delayed. This animated movie will wrap up the story of Miles Morales and the multiverse that started with “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”

Meanwhile, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), a fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland is being developed. Holland recently said on a podcast that he and his co-star Zendaya have read a draft of the script and are excited about the new project.

“We have a creative and we have a pitch and a draft, which is excellent,” Holland said. “It needs work, but the writers are doing a great job. I read it three weeks ago and it really lit a fire in me. Zendaya and I sat down and read it together, and we were bouncing around the living room because we were so excited.”

While it’s not confirmed when this fourth Spider-Man movie will happen, fans are looking forward to seeing what’s next for the character in the MCU. And with Hardy’s enthusiasm for a Venom and Spider-Man battle, the future of these two characters remains wide open.

Whether Venom will ever face off with Spider-Man on the big screen is still unknown, but one thing is clear: the Spider-Man universe is continuing to grow, and there are more stories to be told.
