The “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” star says Marvel’s late-night call confirmed Namor’s epic return in the star-studded “Avengers: Doomsday”.

Namor is back! Actor Tenoch Huerta is officially set to reprise his role as the Atlantean king in Marvel’s highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, hitting theaters on December 18, 2026.
The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star spilled the details during a recent appearance on TV Azteca’s late-night show La Resolana Con El Capi, where he admitted the news of his Marvel comeback came as a total surprise.
“We were waiting on the green light [from Marvel] and my agents in the U.S. were not sure about the news [of my return],” Huerta explained. “They practically told us around 12 at night, and at 5:30 in the morning, the [cast reveal] livestream started, and they told us, ‘Hey, the news is about to drop.’ It was surprising and it was cool.”
While fans are excited to see Namor rise again, Huerta revealed that his role this time will be smaller due to the film’s massive cast. “There are twentysomething characters involved in the story, which means we are each going to have smaller roles because there needs to be space for all the characters and all the universes,” he said. “This makes it a much more simpler role, in terms of time and energy of making a film like this.”
And what a cast it is. Avengers: Doomsday will bring together a powerhouse lineup of Marvel favorites and newcomers. Confirmed stars include Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Captain America), Paul Rudd (Ant-Man), Florence Pugh (Yelena), and Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm).
The film also marks the return of several beloved X-Men actors, including Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and Channing Tatum, who will finally debut as Gambit.
Directed by the Russo Brothers with a script from Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, the movie promises to be one of Marvel’s biggest ensemble projects yet—uniting Avengers, mutants, and beyond.
So yes, Marvel fans: Namor is swimming back into action, and it looks like Avengers: Doomsday will be making some serious waves.
