Sarah Steele Returns as Marissa Gold in ‘Elsbeth’ Season 3 on CBS

Elsbeth is officially bringing back one of the Good Wife universe’s most beloved characters. Sarah Steele will reprise her role as Marissa Gold in the upcoming third season of CBS’s hit spinoff.
Steele first joined The Good Wife back in Season 2 as the quick-witted daughter of Eli Gold (Alan Cumming). Over time, she became a standout presence, eventually stepping into a bigger spotlight as a series regular on The Good Fight, where Marissa worked as the firm’s private investigator.
Now, she’s back once again to rejoin Carrie Preston’s Elsbeth Tascioni, continuing a character journey that has spanned three shows.
Her return marks a special moment for fans of the franchise. Steele becomes only the second actor to appear on Elsbeth as their original character, following Christian Borle’s crossover in Season 2. That puts her in a rare trio alongside Borle and Preston — the only actors who have appeared in all three series tied to the Good Wife universe.
Season 3 of Elsbeth premieres Sunday, October 12, on CBS and Paramount+. Preston once again leads the series as the eccentric but brilliant attorney Elsbeth Tascioni, who works alongside the NYPD to take down New York’s most cunning criminals.
Wendell Pierce also returns as Captain Charles Wallace, while Carra Patterson, who previously starred as Kaya Blanke, will step back into a guest role this season.
The show is also stacking its lineup with familiar faces and comedy stars. Stephen Colbert guest stars in the premiere as late-night host Scotty Bristol, with Andy Richter playing his sidekick and Amy Sedaris as Scotty’s sharp-witted wife and producer.
Additional guests include Lindsay Mendez as a police officer with comedy dreams, Annaleigh Ashford in a Halloween episode as a deadly suburban housewife, William Jackson Harper as a desperate poetry journal founder, and Lois Smith in a mystery role.
With Steele’s return as Marissa Gold and a mix of high-profile guest stars, Elsbeth Season 3 promises to be its most exciting yet.
