Sabrina Carpenter Releases “Man’s Best Friend” Album and “Tears” Video with Colman Domingo

Sabrina Carpenter is kicking things up a notch. The pop star released her highly anticipated seventh album, Man’s Best Friend, on Friday — and along with it, a jaw-dropping music video for her new single, “Tears,” co-starring Colman Domingo.
The “Espresso” singer, who has become one of pop’s most talked-about names this year, leans into boldness and spectacle with this project. The “Tears” video sets the tone — with Carpenter arriving at a mysterious house in the middle of nowhere, only to be greeted by a wild cast of characters.
Domingo, in drag, steals scenes in a campy homage to The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
Musically, the album is just as daring. With 12 tracks — 10 of them marked explicit — Man’s Best Friend continues Carpenter’s streak of cheeky, provocative pop. Its racy cover art, showing the singer on her hands and knees while someone pulls her hair, set the tone early on.
“The album is not for any pearl clutchers,” Carpenter told Gayle King. “But I also think that even pearl clutchers can listen to an album like that in their own solitude and find something that makes them smirk and chuckle to themselves.”
The album rollout began with “Manchild,” Carpenter’s first-ever No. 1 debut on the U.S. singles chart. That milestone followed the massive success of Short n’ Sweet, which won her a Grammy earlier this year and cemented her as one of pop’s breakout forces.
Now, Carpenter shows no signs of slowing down. After wrapping her Short n’ Sweet tour, she’s headed back on the road in October, starting with the Austin City Limits Music Festival. International fans will also get their share — she’s booked to play Lollapalooza Chile, Argentina, and Brazil in 2026.
With Man’s Best Friend, Sabrina Carpenter proves she’s not afraid to push boundaries — and fans seem ready to follow her wherever she goes next.
