Ronny Chieng joins Hulu’s “King of the Hill” revival as Kahn Souphanousinphone; Season 14 premieres August 4 with 10 new episodes and familiar faces.

Comedian Ronny Chieng has officially joined Hulu’s long-awaited revival of King of the Hill, taking on the role of Kahn Souphanousinphone for Season 14, which premieres August 4 with ten new episodes.
Chieng, best known as both a “Daily Show” correspondent and the creator/star of the critically acclaimed Netflix special Ronny Chieng: Love to Hate It, revealed his casting informally last December on a podcast with Ari Shaffir.
Now, fans will see him step into the shoes of Kahn—a role originated by Toby Huss from 1997 to 2009—bringing his own comedic flair to the ultra-competitive, superiority-complex–ridden Laotian neighbor who constantly clashes with Hank Hill over everything from lawncare to life philosophies.
Meanwhile, original series veteran Toby Huss shifts over to voice Dale Gribble beginning in Episode 7, filling the spot left by the late Johnny Hardwick.
The rest of the core ensemble returns intact: Mike Judge, Kathy Najimy, Pamela Adlon, Stephen Root, Lauren Tom (reprising Minh and Connie), and Johnny Hardwick in his longstanding role until Episode 6.
Behind the scenes, co-creators Mike Judge and Greg Daniels remain at the helm as executive producers, joined by showrunner Saladin Patterson and other returning production team members.
Season 14’s logline teases a fresh take on the Hill family’s lives: after years abroad working in Saudi Arabia to pad their retirement savings, Hank and Peggy Hill come home to an Arlen, Texas, much changed from the one they left.
As they reconnect with old buddies—Dale, Boomhauer and Bill—Bobby Hill has matured into a promising young chef in Dallas, navigating his twenties alongside Connie Souphanousinphone, Joseph and Chane.
The new episodes promise to explore generational shifts, evolving friendships and the ever-present clash between Hank’s folksy sensibilities and Kahn’s relentless competitiveness.
With Chieng’s rising profile—having appeared in Crazy Rich Asians, M3GAN, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, and TV series like Doogie Kameāloha, M.D. and American Born Chinese—his addition injects fresh energy into the beloved animated comedy.
As fans count down to August 4, the Season 14 trailer offers a first glimpse at how the Hill clan and their neighbors will adapt to the modern world while staying true to the show’s signature blend of deadpan humor and heartfelt family dynamics.
