Richard Perry, a well-known music producer who worked on hits like Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” has died at the age of 82. He passed away on Tuesday in Los Angeles after suffering a heart attack.

Daphna Kastner, a close friend of Perry, remembered him as a “father friend” and said, “He maximized his time here. He was generous, fun, sweet, and made the world a better place. The world is a little less sweet without him here. But it’s a little bit sweeter in heaven.”

Richard Perry became famous in the 1970s for producing music for some of the biggest stars, including Barbra Streisand, Diana Ross, Art Garfunkel, and Ringo Starr. His work helped shape the sound of the time and created many popular songs.

One of his most famous productions was Carly Simon’s “You’re So Vain,” which became a worldwide hit. Perry also worked with artists like Donna Summer, Julio Iglesias, Neil Diamond, and Randy Travis.

In the late 1970s, Perry started his own music label called Planet Records. He signed and promoted new artists like The Cretones, The Pointer Sisters, and Billy Thermal. In 1983, he sold the label to RCA Records.

In recent years, Perry faced health problems. His personal assistant, Ben McCarthy, shared that Perry had Parkinson’s disease, which made it hard for him to talk. Despite these challenges, he continued to inspire many in the music world.

Perry’s hard work in the music industry earned him many awards. In 2015, he received the Grammy Trustees Award for his contributions to music.

Perry was also known for his relationship with actress Jane Fonda, which lasted from 2009 to 2017.

Richard Perry’s influence on music is enormous. He helped create some of the most famous songs ever, and his work with legendary artists will be remembered for years to come. Though he has passed away, his contributions to music will continue to inspire future generations.
