Elijah Wood Says ‘Ready or Not 2’ Picks Up Right After First Film and Expands Its Mythology

Horror fans, get ready — Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is officially on the way, and according to Elijah Wood, it’s going to dive even deeper into the twisted world introduced in the original film.
Wood, who joined the cast back in April, recently revealed that the sequel will pick up “almost immediately after the first one ends.” That means audiences will be dropped right back into the action following the bloody, shocking finale of the 2019 hit.
The original Ready or Not starred Samara Weaving as Grace, a new bride whose wedding night turned into a nightmare when her eccentric in-laws forced her into a deadly game of hide-and-seek. The mix of dark humor, sharp social commentary, and gruesome scares turned the film into a cult favorite, leaving fans hungry for more.
This time around, Weaving returns alongside Wood and an impressive new lineup that includes Kathryn Newton, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, Olivia Cheng, and legendary filmmaker David Cronenberg.
Behind the camera, directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett — the duo known as Radio Silence — are also back, along with original writers Guy Busick and R. Christopher Murphy.
“I’m a big fan of Radio Silence. I love their films,” Wood told Bloody Disgusting. “I love the original. I think Ready or Not is a total blast. I love Samara in that film. I love the cast of that movie and the kind of nugget of the mythology that you get. What I love about this sequel is that it really deepens that mythology, so I’m stoked for people to see it.”
Plot details are being kept under wraps, but Wood’s comments suggest the movie won’t just repeat the first film’s formula — it will expand the story world and dig deeper into the eerie traditions and sinister secrets of the Le Domas family.
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is set to premiere on April 10, 2026 — giving fans just enough time to rewatch the original and prepare for another round of blood-soaked fun.
