Peacock’s Emmy-winning mystery series Poker Face will return for its highly anticipated second season this spring, the streamer announced Thursday, alongside a sprawling roster of A-list guest stars and a glimpse at Natasha Lyonne’s next chapter as human lie detector Charlie Cale.

Season 2 of the critically acclaimed procedural, co-created by Rian Johnson and showrunner Tony Tost, promises another twist-filled road trip for Lyonne’s accidental sleuth, who remains on the run while stumbling into fresh murders each week. First-look images tease a guest lineup led by John Mulaney (spotted in a cryptic airport scene) and Cynthia Erivo, who appears in three distinct roles as part of a group of five siblings.

The 12-episode season will feature a murderers’ row of talent, including Alia Shawkat, Awkwafina, Ben Marshall, B.J. Novak, Carol Kane, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Corey Hawkins, David Krumholtz, Davionte “GaTa” Ganter, Ego Nwodim, Gaby Hoffmann, Giancarlo Esposito, Haley Joel Osment, Jason Ritter, John Cho, Justin Theroux, Kathrine Narducci, Katie Holmes, Kevin Corrigan, Kumail Nanjiani, Margo Martindale, Melanie Lynskey, Patti Harrison, Sam Richardson, Sherry Cola, and Simon Rex, among others.

In a joint statement, Johnson and Lyonne teased a globe-trotting new season that leans into the show’s offbeat humor and emotional core: “Charlie Cale is back on the run, and in Season 2 we’ve taken her journey to the next level one murder mystery at a time. From minor league baseball to big box retail, from funeral homes to alligator farms and even a grade school talent show, Charlie navigates her crime-solving existential road trip with deadpan wit, human empathy, and her signature uncanny lie-detecting ability.”

The series, which blends Johnson’s Knives Out-style whodunit craftsmanship with Lyonne’s irreverent charm, earned four Emmy nominations for its debut season, including a win for Judith Light as best guest actress in a comedy. Its sophomore run aims to double down on the case-of-the-week format while expanding Charlie’s world—and the eccentric characters who inhabit it.

Poker Face is produced by T-Street and MRC, with Johnson, Lyonne, Tost, Ram Bergman, Nena Rodrigue, Adam Arkin, and sister duo Nora and Lilla Zuckerman serving as executive producers. Animal Pictures also produces.

The spring premiere solidifies Poker Face as a tentpole for Peacock, which has leaned heavily into genre fare and star-driven originals. With its mix of marquee names and Johnson’s pedigree, the series remains a key player in the streamer’s bid to carve a niche in the competitive mystery space.
