There’s exciting news for fans of the popular TV show One Tree Hill! Actress Hilarie Burton-Morgan has shared her excitement about a possible reboot of the series. She and her co-star Sophia Bush are working with Becky Hartman Edwards, a talented writer and producer who has worked on shows like Virgin River and The Bold Type.
“Our showrunner, Becky Hartman Edwards, is so good at writing stories about friendships and families,” Burton-Morgan told People. “That’s why we’re so excited to work with her.”
The original One Tree Hill ran for nine seasons, starting in 2003. It followed the lives of teenagers in a small town as they dealt with love, friendship, and challenges. However, Mark Schwahn, the original creator and showrunner, will not be part of the reboot. In 2017, some cast and crew members accused him of inappropriate behavior.
For Burton-Morgan and Bush, this reboot is a chance to bring back the show in a safe and positive way. They hope it will give both the cast and fans a fresh start.
The new show will take place 20 years after the original. It will focus on Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush) and Peyton Sawyer (Hilarie Burton-Morgan), who are now parents. They will deal with challenges similar to the ones they faced when they were younger, like love, insecurities, and grief.
The project is still in the early stages, so it hasn’t been officially approved yet. Burton-Morgan hopes Netflix will agree to make it. “We’re showing them ideas, and they will decide if it gets made,” she explained. “I think the more people show they’re excited about it, the better our chances are.”
Danneel Ackles, who played Rachel Scott in the original series, might also return. She and her husband, Jensen Ackles, are helping to produce the show through their company, Chaos Machine. Warner Bros. TV is also involved, and Emily Moss Wilson will join as a producer.
Sophia Bush said the process of developing the reboot has been “really incredible.” She explained how much the fans have kept the original show alive over the years. “They’ve asked for this for so long,” she said. “It feels amazing to think about bringing our team back together.”
In a joint statement, Bush and Burton-Morgan shared their excitement about the reboot. “What if you really can go back home?” they wrote. “If we have the chance to work with amazing people and honor our fans, we’re all in. There’s only one Tree Hill, after all.”
Fans of the show are hopeful the reboot will happen. If Netflix approves it, this could be a wonderful way to reconnect with the characters and stories that made One Tree Hill so special. For now, everyone is waiting to see what happens next!
