Olivia Rodrigo broke new ground on her Guts World Tour by prioritizing her team’s mental health in a way rarely seen in live music.

From February 2024 through early July 2025, Rodrigo and her tour manager, Marty Hom, arranged for every member of her 102-show touring party—musicians, crew and support staff—to have access to professional therapy at no cost.

According to guitarist Daisy Spencer, the service was “accessible and free” throughout the tour, including during downtime, and she used it “the crap out of,” attending weekly or biweekly sessions whenever she needed them.

Spencer called the gesture “one of the coolest things that has ever happened on tour,” and praised Rodrigo as “the dreamiest boss of all time.”

This initiative comes against a backdrop of mounting evidence that music-industry professionals face heightened mental-health risks.

Research published by the charity Mind reveals that those working in music are up to three times more likely than the general population to experience depression, with factors such as financial instability, intense schedules, frequent travel, isolation and substance use all contributing.

In response, the Music Industry Therapy Collective (MITC) recently launched an Online Tour Health and Welfare Coaching service, offering 24-hour expert-led support for performers, production crews, promoters, and agents.

The new service aims to tackle issues ranging from anxiety and stress to insomnia and burnout—conditions all too common in the high-pressure environment of live touring.

Beyond her off-stage advocacy, Rodrigo herself has continued to make headlines with standout performances.

In late June 2025, she headlined the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury Festival, where she delivered pyrotechnic-tinged versions of “Vampire” and “Obsessed,” channeling her rock influences with theatrical flair.

A highlight of her set came when she surprised the crowd by bringing The Cure’s Robert Smith onstage; together, they performed “Friday I’m in Love” and “Just Like Heaven,” fusing Rodrigo’s pop-rock sound with Smith’s post-punk legacy.

By underwriting therapy for her entire touring entourage, Olivia Rodrigo not only underscored the importance of mental-health care in the music industry but also set a new standard for artist-led support.

Her actions have sparked broader conversations about the wellbeing of road crews and musicians, helping to pave the way for more comprehensive care initiatives in an industry where emotional resilience is as crucial as artistic talent.
