Morgan Wallen turned his Edmonton concert into a moment of reflection Friday night (Sept. 12), honoring Erika Kirk, the widow of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, after his shocking assassination earlier in the week.

The country superstar, 32, paused midway through his set at Commonwealth Stadium to share a heartfelt message before launching into his hit “I’m a Little Crazy.” “I’m not gonna say a whole bunch on this, but this song right here has been hitting me harder in the last couple days,” Wallen told the crowd in fan-shot footage. “I just wanted to let Erika Kirk know that me and my family are sending prayers her way.”

The moment struck a deep chord with fans, who sang along with Wallen in support of the grieving family. The singer’s dedication comes just days after Kirk, 31, was fatally shot during a Q&A session at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10.

The conservative commentator and co-founder of Turning Point USA was later pronounced dead. He leaves behind Erika and the couple’s two young children. Authorities confirmed that the suspected gunman, Tyler Robinson, was taken into custody the following day.

Wallen’s tribute wasn’t the only musical nod to the tragedy. Over in London, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin also addressed the loss during the band’s Wembley Stadium show, encouraging fans to “send love anywhere you want to send it in the world,” including to “Charlie Kirk’s family.”

On social media, a wave of artists — from Sheryl Crow and Jason Aldean to Kane Brown, Lauren Alaina, Parker McCollum, CeCe Winans, and Michael W. Smith — posted condolences, reflecting just how far Kirk’s impact reached beyond politics.

A public memorial service for Kirk is scheduled for Sept. 21 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, home to the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals.

As the music world continues to rally around Erika and her children, Wallen’s heartfelt message reminded fans that even in moments of entertainment, there’s always room for compassion.
