Miley Cyrus responds after fans call her “dismissive” at London signing event, explaining photo rules and sharing love for her U.K. supporters on Instagram.

Miley Cyrus is speaking out after facing backlash from fans who accused her of being “dismissive” during a vinyl signing event in London.
On Saturday, June 21, the pop star, 32, hosted a meet-and-greet at Rough Trade East alongside supermodel Naomi Campbell, 55, to celebrate their collaboration on Cyrus’ Something Beautiful album.
However, a video from the event surfaced online, showing Cyrus and Campbell chatting with each other as a fan stood nearby, hoping for interaction. Miley briefly smiled for a photo, but quickly turned back to Campbell, leading some to call her behavior cold.
Reddit users slammed the moment, calling it “inconsiderate and rude.” Some speculated that fans had paid for the chance to meet Cyrus, making the interaction seem even more disappointing.
But on Tuesday, June 24, Miley took to Instagram to offer context. In a carousel post featuring photos and videos from the event, she explained the surprise nature of the signing.
“Our vinyl was originally set to drop a week later, but since we were both in London, @roughtradeeast made it happen day of,” she wrote. “I wanted to gift my Smilers an exclusive experience & unreleased vinyl to thank you for the love you’ve shown me in the UK over the years.”
Cyrus also clarified that the record store had asked for “no photos due to the unexpected last-minute turnout,” although professional photographer Vijat M was present to document the event. “To everyone who came out to celebrate our single, we love you,” she added.
Adding to the big night, Miley also premiered the visual film for Something Beautiful in London the same day. Her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, and his girlfriend Elizabeth Hurley attended the screening, along with Hurley’s son, Damian.
They later shared a joint Instagram post showing Miley in the film, with Hurley captioning it, “The babies are all grown up 🥹❤️.”
Billy Ray chimed in the comments, calling the evening “a night to remember,” and said, “This is what rock n’ roll is all about… the kids are together ❤️ SO PROUD xxx.”
Despite the awkward moment captured on video, Miley’s statement and behind-the-scenes photos suggest she had heartfelt intentions to connect with her fans in the U.K.
