Mau P’s viral Coachella hit “Tesla” drops Aug. 8 after no one believed in it.

Dutch DJ and producer Mau P is turning a viral Coachella moment into his next big release. His much-anticipated track “Tesla” officially drops Friday, August 8, via Insomniac Records — but according to the artist, it almost never saw the light of day.
The track, a slick and bass-driven dance-floor banger, features the playful line “I just popped a Tesla, ain’t no need to charge,” a nod to both high-energy partying and electric cars.
Mau P first played the song during his massive Coachella 2025 set in the legendary Sahara tent, where tens of thousands of fans packed in to dance. Clips of the unreleased track quickly went viral on TikTok and Instagram, sparking huge demand from listeners.
Despite the hype now surrounding it, Mau P revealed that the song didn’t have much early support from people in the industry. “No one believed in this song until I played it at Coachella and it went viral,” he told Billboard, adding, “Always trust your gut and stand on business.”
The official release of “Tesla” comes during a major career high for the fast-rising producer. Just two days before the song’s drop, on August 6, he launched his Baddest Behaviour residency at the iconic Pacha Ibiza club, performing alongside Mita Gami and Discip.
The weekly residency runs every Wednesday through October 8, with an all-star lineup of guest DJs including Seth Troxler, LP Giobbi, Hot Since 82, Haai, and WhoMadeWho.
Mau P’s calendar is also packed with festival appearances at Creamfields, Portola, and iii Points, as well as massive headlining shows at L.A. State Historic Park and Red Rocks Amphitheater.
From an unreleased track with no backing to one of the most talked-about dance singles of the summer, “Tesla” is proof that sometimes all it takes is one unforgettable live moment to change everything.
And for fans who’ve been looping those viral Coachella clips for months, the countdown is almost over — “Tesla” is out this Friday.
