Libby Titus, a singer and songwriter from the 1960s and ’70s, has died at the age of 77. Her husband, Donald Fagen of the band Steely Dan, announced her death on the band’s website. He shared that she passed away on October 13th, surrounded by family. No cause of death was given.

Titus had a short music career, releasing two albums. She is best known for co-writing the song “Love Has No Pride” with Eric Kaz.

While her own version of the song didn’t become a hit, it became popular through covers by artists like Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, and Rita Coolidge. Many other musicians, including Rod Stewart and Billy Bragg, also covered the song.

Titus was married to Donald Fagen and had a daughter, singer-songwriter Amy Helm, with Levon Helm from The Band. Though she stopped making music, she worked with other famous musicians like Carly Simon and Burt Bacharach.

In the late ’80s, Titus helped create the New York Rock & Soul Revue, which brought together different musicians for live shows. She played a big role in its early years, though she didn’t perform on the album that came out from the group.

Titus and Fagen made headlines in 2016 after a public argument, but they stayed together. She will be remembered for her music, collaborations, and influence on the artists she worked with and inspired.
