Black Mandala has picked up the global rights for “Lake Jesup: Bonecrusher’s Revenge,” a new creature movie set in Lake Jesup, Florida, known for having the most alligators in the U.S.

The story is based on a real event from 2003 when an alligator named Bonecrusher escaped from a theme park called Gator Galaxy and began attacking people in the lake. The deadly situation led to a 13-day hunt to stop the alligator.

The movie is written and directed by Michael Houston King, who also acts in the film. King is known for his roles in TV shows like “Homeland” and “Burn Notice.” The story focuses on Bubba Coggins, a skilled hunter, as he tries to track down Bonecrusher.

As Bubba hunts the alligator, he realizes that both he and the creature were wronged by Angus Sullivan, the greedy owner of the theme park. This adds an extra layer of conflict, as Bubba must decide how far he will go to stop the deadly predator and protect the local community.

The film was made by Crown Creative Content and Valencia Motion Pictures, with AEO handling the special effects. The cast includes Derek Russo, Jeff Beninghofen, and Michael Houston King himself.

Lake Jesup” aims to capture the fear of being hunted by a dangerous creature, much like classic films such as “Jaws” and “Alligator.” The film also mixes in a bit of humor, a common feature in creature movies.

Black Mandala is a sales company that focuses on horror films. They have also recently picked up other films, including “1978,” a horror movie that premiered at Sitges Film Festival, and “Mother Superior,” a Gothic horror film about Nazi experiments.
