Fox’s animated comedy “Krapopolis” has been renewed for a fourth season, as announced by creator Dan Harmon during Comic-Con International in San Diego.

The announcement follows the show’s first Emmy nomination, with Hannah Waddingham earning a nod for her character voice-over performance as Deliria.

Harmon, along with executive producers Steve Levy and Alex Rubens, shared the renewal news and discussed the show’s development over its first two seasons, hinting at what fans can expect in the future.

Waddingham’s nomination for outstanding character voice-over performance, particularly for the episode “Big Man on Hippocampus,” was also celebrated.

Set in mythical ancient Greece, “Krapopolis” tells the story of a dysfunctional family of humans, gods, and monsters attempting to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other.

The series features Richard Ayoade as Tyrannis, the mortal son of a goddess; Waddingham as Deliria, Tyrannis’ mother and goddess of self-destruction; Matt Berry as Shlub, Tyrannis’ mantitaur father; Pam Murphy as Stupendous, Tyrannis’ cyclops half-sister; and Duncan Trussell as Hippocampus, Tyrannis’ mermaid half-brother.

Fox TV network president Michael Thorn expressed excitement about the renewal, noting the Comic-Con fan fest as the perfect place for the announcement. Thorn praised Harmon and his team for creating a unique series that has earned a dedicated following.

“Krapopolis” will return for its new season on Sunday, September 29, at 8:30 p.m. ET.

The show had a challenging path to its series premiere last September, initially set to debut in November 2022. Despite delays, including a shift to a May 2023 premiere and rescheduling to fall due to Hollywood strikes, the show finally premiered to strong ratings.

It benefited from a football lead-in and became the highest-rated entertainment program of the week, a first for an animated series in-season since “Family Guy” premiered in 1999.

Variety’s Alison Herman described “Krapopolis” as an “amusing, high-concept riff on the family sitcom set in an extremely loose rendition of ancient Greece.” She highlighted the potential in the show’s flexible setup and the strength of its core cast.

Harmon, known for “Rick and Morty” and “Community,” created “Krapopolis” as part of his direct animation deal with Fox Entertainment. The series is produced by Fox’s Bento Box Entertainment and distributed by Fox Entertainment Global.

With the show’s renewal, fans can look forward to more adventures in ancient Greece, where humans, gods, and monsters navigate their relationships and city-building efforts.

The creative team behind “Krapopolis” continues to deliver a unique blend of humor and mythology, solidifying its place in Fox’s animation lineup.
