Kelly Ripa is on her annual summer break from “Live With Kelly & Mark”, as guest cohosts—from Jackie Tohn to Jenna Dewan—join Mark Consuelos this week.
Kelly Ripa, the indomitable daytime television host, is taking her customary summer respite from Live With Kelly & Mark, allowing a rotating slate of guest cohosts to step behind the desk alongside her husband and fellow anchor, Mark Consuelos.
Beginning Monday, “Nobody Wants This” actress Jackie Tohn kicked off the fill-in lineup, with former Step Up star Jenna Dewan joining Consuelos on Tuesday. A fresh guest cohost is slated for each remaining broadcast of the week.
Ripa’s summer hiatus is a tradition she’s maintained for years, affording her a brief pause from the rigors of daily syndication. Despite her absence, the show’s producers have ensured that the energy and camaraderie remain intact.
Consuelos, now Ripa’s permanent cohost—having succeeded Ryan Seacrest in late 2023—will anchor each episode, steering conversations, celebrity interviews, and interactive segments with the enthusiasm viewers have come to expect.
Off the Live stage, Ripa has continued to expand her media footprint. Her Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast has garnered a dedicated following with its candid, in-depth conversations, and in July she and Consuelos premiered Running With the Wolves on ESPN.
The four-part docuseries offers a behind-the-scenes look at their family dynamics and their joint ownership of Italian soccer club Campobasso, blending personal anecdotes with the challenges of sports franchise management.
Reflecting on her decades-long tenure in daytime television—which began in 2001 alongside the late Regis Philbin—Ripa has often mused about the prospect of stepping away. She recently sought guidance from talk-show legend Oprah Winfrey during a podcast episode.
Winfrey reassured her that she and Consuelos remain “in a groove,” encouraging her to continue, at least for now. Ripa herself admitted in an Entertainment Weekly interview that each new cohost injects “a little jolt of energy” into her career, though she quipped that retirement “is my favorite topic of discussion.”
