Singer Kehlani has taken legal action in an ongoing custody battle with her ex-boyfriend, Javaughn Young-White, by filing for a temporary restraining order.

According to court documents, the order was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday.

This legal move comes just two weeks after Young-White sought full custody of their daughter, Adeya, who was born in 2019. The court has now ordered that Young-White cannot contact Kehlani or their daughter in any form, including through phone or email, and must stay at least 100 yards away from them, their home, and Adeya’s school or childcare facility.

For now, Kehlani retains full physical and legal custody of Adeya under the terms of the restraining order.

The court expressed concerns about the risk of child abduction, citing a history of alleged abuse by Young-White and his lack of cooperation in co-parenting. The details of the abuse were not specified in the filing. Consequently, Young-White is barred from traveling with Adeya outside California and from obtaining any travel-related documents for her. Additionally, he is prohibited from purchasing or possessing firearms and ammunition.

A hearing regarding the restraining order is scheduled for September 3.

The dispute intensified after Young-White’s July 24 complaint, where he accused Kehlani of being involved in a cult that influences her behavior, including decisions related to their daughter. He claimed that the cult’s leader told Kehlani that Young-White was a danger to their daughter, which led to him being barred from seeing Adeya for months. Young-White has also requested a psychological evaluation of Kehlani, citing concerns about her mental health.

In response, Kehlani strongly denied all allegations, stating that she has always prioritized her child’s safety and well-being. She also rejected any claims about her involvement in a dangerous group, asserting that her focus has always been on motherhood and protecting her child.
