Jennifer Lopez, the iconic singer and actress, celebrated her 55th birthday in style on Wednesday, July 24.
In a heartfelt and musical tribute, Lopez joined her longtime friend and vocal coach, Stevie Mackey, for a special rendition of the classic Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand mashup, “Happy Days Are Here Again / Get Happy.”
The duo shared the video on Instagram the day after Lopez’s birthday, featuring a cozy and intimate performance.
Sitting on a large couch, Lopez, dressed in a sheer dress and elegant dangly earrings, sang lines from “Happy Days Are Here Again,” while Mackey took on the “Get Happy” portions.
The chemistry between the two was evident as they smiled at each other throughout the performance. Lopez captioned the video with, “Here’s to a new and HAPPY year around the sun… Late birthday nights with @steviemackey.”
This memorable song mashup has a rich history, originally performed by Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand during an October 1963 taping of The Judy Garland Show. Streisand has since released the performance multiple times, including on her 2002 Duets album.
In addition to the musical celebration, Lopez shared a personal message with her fans. She posted a few behind-the-scenes snapshots of her at-home celebration, featuring a blue cake, several bouquets of flowers, and Lopez wearing a blue silk pajama set. Her Instagram post was filled with gratitude and love for her fans.
“I’ve been seeing all of your birthday wishes, beautiful videos, and posts all last night and this morning from all over the world. I have laughed, smiled, shed some tears, and when I saw the billboard in Times Square, I was completely overwhelmed,” Lopez wrote, referring to a “Happy Birthday Jennifer Lopez” sign that appeared in Manhattan. “I really do have the best, most amazing fans in the world. I could never express how moved I am or how incredibly blessed I feel to have all of you be a part of my life. Thank you sooooo very much.”
Reflecting on her journey, Lopez expressed her amazement at how far she has come while still feeling like the same young woman full of energy and dreams. “It’s hard to believe we have spent all this time together.
It’s funny as I sit here contemplating on the most extraordinary journey I still feel like the same girl starting out so full of energy and bravado, so ready to take on the whole world on the outside and yet so tender, fragile and sometimes frightened but always full of love on the inside,” she shared. “I have so much love for you.”
Lopez also took a moment to acknowledge her fans’ unwavering support. “YOU are my biggest gift,” she wrote. “Besides my family and friends, you have always been there for me in the good times and in the tough times.

To top off her birthday celebrations, Lopez gave fans a glimpse of her Bridgerton-inspired party held in the Hamptons on Saturday, July 20.
She uploaded a video montage showcasing the party’s 19th-century attire and elegant setting. “Dearest Gentle Reader… And a splendid evening was had by all,” she captioned the video. Among the guests was Lopez’s mother, Guadalupe Rodríguez, who dressed in period-appropriate attire.
Interestingly, Lopez’s husband, Ben Affleck, was notably absent from the celebrations. This marked another significant milestone apart for the couple, following their second wedding anniversary earlier in the month.
Despite the distance, Lopez has been spending quality time with Affleck’s daughter, Violet, 18, in the Hamptons, enjoying bike rides and shopping together.
A source close to Lopez shared that her summer hasn’t gone exactly as planned but that she is making the best of it. “Her summer isn’t exactly what she originally had planned, but she’s making the best of it,” the source told PEOPLE. “She’s always grateful for family time.”
