A woman, who says she was hurt by famous musicians Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs when she was 13 years old, has admitted to making some mistakes in her story. However, she still believes that the main part of her story is true. The woman, whose name has not been shared for her privacy, talked about her experience in an interview with NBC News.
What Happened and the Questions Raised
The woman, known as “Jane Doe,” says the incident happened more than 20 years ago. She admitted that she might not remember everything correctly, saying, “Not all the faces are clear.”
One problem with her story is about her father. She says he drove a long way to pick her up after the incident, but her father says he doesn’t remember doing that. “I feel like I would remember that, and I don’t,” he said. Jane Doe’s lawyer, Tony Buzbee, says her father might not remember because he was going through a tough time back then.
Another issue is that Jane Doe said she talked to musician Benji Madden at a party after the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards. However, NBC News found out that neither Benji Madden nor his brother Joel Madden went to that event.
Jane Doe told NBC, “What is the clearest is what happened to me and the route that I took to what happened to me.” This means she is most sure about the incident itself, even if some details are fuzzy.
Jay-Z’s Response
Jay-Z says the woman’s story is not true. He says the lawyer, Tony Buzbee, is only trying to get attention and money. “This incident didn’t happen,” Jay-Z said. “This was over before it began. True Justice is coming. We fight FROM victory, not FOR victory.”
Jay-Z’s lawyer, Alex Spiro, also denied the claims and asked the court to cancel the case. He said, “It is stunning that a lawyer would file such a serious complaint without proper investigation.” He also said they might take action against the lawyers who filed the case.
What the Lawyer Says
Tony Buzbee, Jane Doe’s lawyer, defended her. He said his team looked into her claims before taking the case. He also shared that Jane Doe is going through a lot of stress and even having seizures because of the pressure.
Even though parts of her story have mistakes, Buzbee says his client is sure about what happened. She has even offered to take a polygraph test (a type of lie detector test). Buzbee said, “I’ve never had a client suggest that before.”
He promised to keep gathering evidence to support Jane Doe’s story.
What Happens Next
The court will decide if the case will move forward or if it will be dismissed. While Jane Doe says she remembers the incident clearly, some details have been questioned. On the other side, Jay-Z and his team strongly deny the claims and want the case thrown out.
For now, the case remains a serious and emotional issue for everyone involved. The truth will be decided as the legal process continues.
