Ice Cube slammed recent immigration raids in Los Angeles, saying the tactics go beyond enforcement and are intended to “traumatize” immigrant communities.

In a clip from his REAL 92.3 LA interview posted Aug. 7, the rapper expressed sympathy for families targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, criticizing agents for detaining people at “churches and weddings and…schools” and warning, “nobody’s safe, man.”

Cube’s comments come amid rising outrage in L.A. after a series of federal operations that critics say have been heavy-handed and indiscriminate. Community organizations and local officials point to a recent raid outside a Home Depot — in which U.S. Border Patrol agents reportedly jumped from the back of a rented box truck — as emblematic of those tactics.

The operation, described by an agency official as “Operation Trojan Horse,” drew immediate condemnation and renewed questions about whether agents are violating court limits on how arrests may be carried out.

The raids have played out against the backdrop of a federal appeals court decision that left in place a temporary order barring indiscriminate “roving” immigration sweeps in several Southern California counties.

The Ninth Circuit’s move, which upheld a lower-court restraining order, prohibits stops and arrests based solely on factors such as race, language, location or occupation — a legal framework immigrant-rights groups say the recent operations may contravene.

The enforcement actions and visible videos of arrests have fueled protests across the region and prompted artists and public figures to speak out in support of immigrant families.

Ice Cube joins a growing list of musicians and celebrities who have condemned the sweeps and voiced solidarity with those living in fear of sudden detentions. Local advocates have also mobilized calls for legal challenges and economic boycotts tied to the Home Depot incident and other raids.

Federal officials have defended the operations as lawful enforcement actions. Meanwhile, civil-rights groups, lawyers and some city leaders say they are documenting raids for potential legal violations and urging courts to enforce the restraining orders that remain in place as the dispute moves through the judicial system.
