LAPD probe into a body discovered in a car tied to D4vd forces cancellations and delays as investigation continues.
Singer D4vd — born David Anthony Burke, 20 — has canceled the remaining dates of his U.S. tour as law enforcement continues to investigate after a dead body was found in a car registered to him.
Multiple venue listings for upcoming Los Angeles shows, including a scheduled appearance at the Grammy Museum on Sept. 24, were quietly removed overnight as the inquiry intensified. One concert in Seattle was already called off earlier this week, and while tickets for a Sept. 19 San Francisco performance briefly remained on sale, promoters and reports indicated it was unlikely to go ahead.
Los Angeles Police Department officers were dispatched to a Hollywood tow yard on Sept. 8 after staff flagged a foul odor coming from a vehicle that had been stored there for several days. Inside the front trunk of the Tesla linked to Burke, officers discovered human remains placed inside a bag.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner later identified the remains as those of a teenage girl, Celeste Rivas, who had been reported missing from Lake Elsinore, California, on April 5, 2024.
Authorities say the vehicle had not been reported stolen, and major outlets reported Burke was cooperating with investigators after authorities established his connection to the car.
In the days following the discovery, unconfirmed photos purportedly showing Burke with the victim circulated online, fueling speculation and intense public scrutiny as the investigation proceeds.
The developments have prompted immediate commercial fallout. Brands that had collaborated with the musician — notably Crocs and Hollister, both involved in promotional activity tied to the singer’s recent releases — announced suspensions of their partnerships.
In addition, reports indicate a deluxe edition of Burke’s second studio album, originally scheduled for release on Sept. 19, has been postponed. Burke’s second LP, “Withered,” arrived in April, and he had recently issued a new single described by some reports as an official anthem for a popular video game platform.
The 20-year-old artist, who rose to prominence with hits such as “Here With Me” and “Romantic Homicide,” had been on a North American leg of the “Withered” tour when the story broke.
Promoters and venues have been handling ticketing and scheduling updates on a rolling basis as investigators continue to piece together the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
Officials have not yet announced any charges, and the investigation remains active; authorities have emphasized that inquiries are ongoing and urged for patience as they complete forensic and procedural steps.
