The 2025 Creative Arts Emmy Awards turned into a star-studded weekend in Los Angeles, and two familiar faces walked away with major wins.

Shawn Hatosy and Merritt Wever took home trophies for Best Guest Actor and Actress in a Drama, celebrating standout performances that wowed both critics and fans.

For Hatosy, the win was especially meaningful. The Animal Kingdom star earned his first-ever Emmy nomination and victory for his role as Dr. Jack Abbot in HBO’s new hit series The Pitt. Taking the stage at the Peacock Theater, Hatosy got emotional as he thanked co-creator John Wells, joking he couldn’t say much more without crying.

He also praised his co-star Noah Wyle, calling his performance “extraordinary” and admitting it was surreal to act opposite him. The Pitt, which launched this year, is already making waves with 13 Emmy nominations in total.

Wever, who wasn’t present at the ceremony, scored her third career Emmy for her performance as Gretchen George in season two of Apple TV+’s Severance. The win further cements her reputation as one of TV’s most reliable scene-stealers.

Severance dominated the field this year with a whopping 27 nominations, the most of any series.

Wever triumphed over a stacked lineup that included her Severance co-stars Jane Alexander and Gwendoline Christie, as well as Kaitlyn Dever and Catherine O’Hara for The Last of Us, and Cherry Jones for The Handmaid’s Tale.

Meanwhile, Hatosy beat out heavy-hitters like Giancarlo Esposito (The Boys), Scott Glenn (The White Lotus), Forest Whitaker (Andor), and Jeffrey Wright and Joe Pantoliano, both nominated for The Last of Us.

The two-night Creative Arts Emmys, held September 6 and 7, set the stage for the upcoming Primetime Emmys later this month.

With The Pitt breaking out strong and Severance continuing its awards streak, this year’s race is shaping up to be one of the most exciting in recent memory.
