Christina Sandera, Clint Eastwood‘s longtime girlfriend, passed away on July 19.

Eastwood, 94, expressed his deep sorrow in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, saying, “Christina was a lovely, caring woman, and I will miss her very much.”

Sandera’s death at age 61 was confirmed by the Monterey County Health Department. According to a report from the New York Post on July 23, her death certificate listed cardiac arrhythmia, an abnormality in the timing or pattern of the heartbeat, as the immediate cause.

Additionally, atherosclerotic coronary artery disease was mentioned as a contributing factor.

Sandera and Eastwood began their relationship in 2014. Their romance was first publicly noticed when they were photographed grocery shopping together in June of that year.

The couple made their first official appearance at the 2015 Academy Awards, where Eastwood’s film “American Sniper” was nominated for six awards, including Best Picture.

Over the years, Sandera often accompanied Eastwood to various events related to his films. They were seen together at the 2016 screening of “Sully” at the Directors Guild of America and attended the Cannes Film Festival the following year.

In 2018, Sandera joined Eastwood, along with his family, at the premiere of his movie “The Mule.”

Sandera, who maintained a low profile, worked as a hostess at Eastwood’s property, the Mission Ranch Hotel in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.

This coastal town has been Eastwood’s home for many years, and he even served as its mayor. Despite Eastwood’s fame, the couple led a quiet life together away from the spotlight.

Before his relationship with Sandera, Eastwood had been married twice. He was first married to model Maggie Johnson from 1953 to 1987 and later to news anchor Dina Ruiz from 1996 to 2004.

In addition to his marriages, Eastwood had several notable relationships, including with actress Frances Fisher and his “The Gauntlet” co-star Sondra Locke. Throughout his life, Eastwood has fathered eight children, including actor Scott Eastwood.

Sandera was known for her discreet nature and was not active on social media. Little information is available about her life outside of her relationship with Eastwood.

The couple’s decision to live a private life in Carmel-by-the-Sea was in line with Eastwood’s own tendency to avoid the limelight.

The news of Sandera’s passing has brought a wave of condolences and support for Eastwood, who is revered not only for his contributions to cinema but also for his enduring presence in Hollywood.

The couple’s ten-year relationship was marked by mutual respect and affection, as evidenced by their numerous public appearances and shared moments.

Eastwood’s statement about Sandera reflects the deep bond they shared. As he mourns her loss, he continues to be surrounded by his family and loved ones. Sandera’s death is a significant loss for those who knew her, and she will be remembered for her kind and caring nature.
