Bryan Abasolo, a chiropractor who found fame on The Bachelorette, is speaking out about his challenging divorce from Rachel Lindsay.
The couple, who met on the reality show in 2017 and married in 2019, are now in the midst of a contentious separation that has seen numerous allegations and legal battles unfold.
Abasolo, 44, recently took to his Instagram Stories to express gratitude for the support he has received from his divorce coach, Rene Garcia.
In a candid post, he shared how emotionally and psychologically drained he felt before seeking professional guidance.
“I needed an objective opinion and guidance to make a huge decision,” Abasolo wrote on July 18. He credited Garcia, whom he now considers a friend, with helping him navigate the complex emotions and alleged “PR tricks and gaslighting” he anticipated facing. “I’m thankful,” he continued.
“If thinking of separating, find a divorce coach so you don’t make a decision by reaction, but through clarity.”
The couple’s separation, which Abasolo initiated on January 2 by filing for divorce citing irreconcilable differences, has been anything but smooth.
Despite releasing a joint statement on Instagram—since deleted—where they described their decision to part ways as mutual, the proceedings have been fraught with conflict.
A significant point of contention has been Abasolo’s request for spousal support. Initially, his plea for monthly spousal support was denied by Lindsay, who argued that he did not need the funds and claimed his demands “far exceed the actual marital lifestyle and his need.”
In documents obtained by PEOPLE, Lindsay pointed out that Abasolo’s claimed annual income of $16,000 was “less than he would [earn] if he worked at McDonalds,” emphasizing his ability to generate income independently.
Despite this, Abasolo persisted, requesting $16,000 per month in spousal support. His persistence paid off when, in a July 10 court hearing, the judge ordered Lindsay to pay him temporary spousal support amounting to $13,257 per month, starting July 15, along with $20,000 to cover his legal fees.
The battle over spousal support has been just one aspect of their contentious split. The former couple has also exchanged various allegations regarding the nature of their relationship.
Lindsay claimed she learned about the divorce filing via text message, an assertion that Abasolo denied. She also disputed his portrayal of their marital standard of living, suggesting it was far less glamorous than he depicted.
Abasolo countered with more text messages, alleging that Lindsay was neither surprised nor shocked by the divorce filing, despite her claims to the contrary.
He further accused Lindsay of showing little interest in his business and prioritizing her career, which often took her away from their marital home.
Abasolo alleged that Lindsay wanted him “out of the way” and not involved in her Hollywood lifestyle, going so far as to disinvite him to events in favor of attending with industry friends.
The divorce has become a highly publicized affair, with both parties airing grievances and disputes over financial and personal matters. The public nature of their split contrasts sharply with their initial romance, which played out on national television to much fanfare.
