Red marries musician Angels in a black-tie wedding at the Orangery, Kent.
British singer Red, renowned for her performances with music legends like Diana Ross, Ed Sheeran, and Alicia Keys, tied the knot with musician Mark Angels on July 17.
The couple celebrated their union in a “black-tie summer bling” ceremony at the Orangery in Maidstone, Kent, England, with 115 guests in attendance.
Initially, Red and Angels had planned to marry in the Philippines, aiming to find a venue that echoed Angels’ cultural background and their British roots. They ultimately fell in love with the Orangery for its beautiful “Lapa” and the serene “gorgeous lake.”
The venue brought back fond memories for the couple, reminding them of where they got engaged in the Philippines, Mark’s homeland.
Red and Angels prioritized creating lasting memories with their loved ones, starting the festivities with a welcome brunch pool party at a 9-bedroom mansion in the Kent countryside. Bagpipes heralded the start of the wedding ceremony, honoring the couple’s Scottish heritage.
“A bagpiper at our ceremony was something we both felt strongly about,” said Red. The music then transitioned to a string quartet led by their friend Olivia, who has played for notable pop acts like Ed Sheeran and Adele.
Olivia prepared bespoke arrangements of the couple’s favorite songs to accompany their walk down the aisle and entertain their guests.
The ceremony included a heartfelt tribute to Red’s father, who passed away in 2016. Describing his passing as “a devastating loss for me and my family,” Red walked down the aisle holding a balloon in his memory.
Red wore two different dresses for her wedding day, both designed by Eleganza Sposa. For the ceremony, she wore a “fairytale dream” gown with an extravagant train, complemented by a Swarovski crystal veil and belt, offering a tasteful touch of bling. Angels donned a traditional Scottish kilt for the ceremony.
For the reception, Red changed into an outfit inspired by “old Hollywood glam.” The look included a short gold structured mini dress with feathers, pearl embellishments, and opera gloves for added drama.
Dinner featured a blend of traditional and modern dishes, including steak and chips as canapé options and Scottish square sausage rolls for the evening buffet. The couple also had Scotland’s national drink, Irn Bru, on tap at the bar, especially for Mark.
The evening’s entertainment included a 12-piece Gospel Choir, who surprised guests with a flash mob during dinner, and Scottish Ceilidh Dancing following the couple’s first dance.
Given the musical talent of many guests, an open mic session with the wedding band provided additional entertainment.
Red and Angels’ love story began when Red stumbled upon one of Mark’s YouTube videos years ago. Drawn to his voice and charisma, a mutual friend connected them, and they bonded over their shared love of R&B music and drive for success.
They were best friends for two years before their relationship blossomed into romance. “Eight years later, I am now getting married to my best friend,” Red shared.
Angels expressed his admiration for Red, praising her fearless nature and constant support. “I am thankful for her pushing me to be the best version I can be, loving me through all my flaws, and never letting me settle for comfortability,” he said.
Reflecting on their wedding, Red described it as “a movie” filled with twists and turns, culminating in pure bliss and euphoria. “And of course, a partner for life who I can grow old with and relive every moment with,” she added.
The wedding was a celebration of love, music, and culture, bringing together the couple’s diverse backgrounds and shared passions in a memorable and elegant event.
