As the summer winds down and kids head back to school, the penultimate weekend of the season isn’t doing much to excite moviegoers.

The total box office for all films is expected to reach $93.4 million—a 33% drop from last weekend, making it the third-lowest grossing weekend of the summer. Despite the slump, this weekend still manages to beat the same time last year by 3%, when Sony’s Gran Turismo led the box office.

Disney’s Deadpool & Wolverine continues to lead the pack, pulling in $17.8 million in its fourth weekend. The Marvel flick is holding strong, despite a 41% drop from last weekend.

Meanwhile, Alien: Romulus from Disney/20th Century Studios follows closely with $16 million in its second weekend—a 61% drop, but still better than its predecessor Alien: Covenant in 2017.

The new releases this weekend, however, are struggling to find their footing. Amazon MGM Studios’ Blink Twice, directed by Zoë Kravitz and starring Channing Tatum, opened with a disappointing $7.1 million.

Despite decent reviews and a 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences gave the thriller a lukewarm reception, with a 50% definite recommend score on PostTrak.

Even worse off is Lionsgate’s The Crow, a $50 million reboot that’s bombing hard with a $4.5 million to $5 million debut. Preview numbers for Blink Twice and The Crow were similarly underwhelming, pulling in $820K and $650K respectively.

The Crow has been particularly panned by audiences, earning a dismal 1-star rating, and might be headed for another dreadful CinemaScore.

Also debuting this weekend is Sony AFFIRM’s The Forge, a Kendrick Brothers movie that managed a slightly better $6.1 million opening, though still far from being a major hit. With this sluggish box office and a lack of blockbuster titles, it’s clear that the summer movie season is fading fast.
