Ben Affleck is doing well following Jennifer Lopez’s recent filing for divorce. A source close to the actor told People that, amid this new development, the 52-year-old is “very focused” on his work and children.
According to one insider, Affleck has found solace recently: Staying active by working constantly. “He thrives when he has work projects,” the source adds, saying he’s also “great when it comes to the kids.”
This couple was separated since May 17, and since then, in the divorce file, Lopez has registered April 26 as the date of their separation because of irreconcilable differences. Ben was sad about the break-up. But he thought it was all for the best. “He knew he was letting [Lopez] down, and he felt very bad about it,” the source said.
The source went on to explain that the two “had very different life styles” and other things that finally came in between them. “He realized he would never be happy with her lifestyle, and he didn’t expect it to change,” they said.
As further stress on the relationship, rumors have also been churned out citing that the pair had already been getting into problems months before the break-up was announced. The lifestyle and attitudes of the two, such as Affleck being “moody and dark” as against Lopez’s being “grateful and appreciative” made it hard to see eye-to-eye despite efforts on their part.
The couple put their Beverly Hills mansion on the market in July, another sign that it was splitsville. Affleck wasted no time buying himself a new 20-million-dollar pad in Los Angeles. Lopez, meanwhile, has been spending time on the East Coast.

The couple, who married in July 2022 without a prenuptial agreement, reportedly had been trying to get back together lately, but the former couple’s very different lifestyles and expectations just proved too much.
While the relationship ended, Affleck was a present father to their three kids with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, Serusra, and Samuel. Lopez, meanwhile, was focused on her 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, from her previous marriage to Marc Anthony. By the looks of it, both stars had apparently moved on and were focused on their family lives and subsequent careers after that much-publicized breakup.
