Ariana Grande is setting the record straight: she’s not walking away from music anytime soon.

The pop powerhouse took to Instagram this week to reassure fans that, even as she dives headfirst into Hollywood, her first love will always be singing.

“Very silly of you all to assume that just because i have my hands full with many things that i plan to abandon singing & music … !!! it is and has always been my lifeline,” Grande wrote alongside a fairy-wing emoji.

The 31-year-old star explained that, while her schedule is “jam-packed” with acting projects—including reprising Glinda in the upcoming Wicked sequel and lending her voice to John M. Chu’s animated adaptation of Dr. Seuss’s Oh, the Places You’ll Go—she’s already “working on a plan to sing for you all next year. even if it’s just for a little. i love you.”

Fans worried that Ariana’s recent focus on the big screen meant the end of new music will be relieved to know that she’s still inspired by songwriting.

After dropping her critically acclaimed seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, in September 2023—and following up with the six-track deluxe edition, Eternal Sunshine Deluxe: Brighter Days Ahead, this past March—Grande opted not to mount a full arena tour. Instead, she hinted on social media that more intimate performances could be on the horizon.

Ariana’s representative doubled down on her message in a statement to Variety: “Ariana’s plate is definitely full right now, but she’s genuinely enjoying this chapter.

She’s loving the opportunity to dive deeper into acting, and she remains incredibly hands-on with her various businesses. That said, Ariana has always been and continues to be a musician first. The goal is to find a rhythm where all of these creative outlets can coexist.”

Later this year, moviegoers will see Grande return to the Wicked universe in Wicked: For Good, which is set to hit theaters on November 21.

But true beliebers know that behind every emerald city and Seussian adventure, Ariana’s heart beats to the rhythm of a melody—one she’s eager to share onstage again.
