The almost decade-long divorce proceedings between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt continue to draw attention, with insiders revealing the deep-seated bitterness that has prolonged their separation.

According to a source close to the couple, “their disagreements took over” their relationship well before Jolie filed for divorce in 2016. “Things turned nasty, and it was not a good situation for anyone,” the source shared, shedding light on the tumultuous dynamic that defined their final years together.

The former couple, who were declared legally single in 2019, have six children together, with the youngest, twins Vivienne and Knox, recently turning 16. Despite being legally single, the complexities of their divorce have prevented a complete resolution. “All the bitterness is partly why the divorce has dragged on for so many years. Neither will let it go,” the source explained.

For those close to Jolie and Pitt, the prolonged nature of their divorce has been disheartening. A separate insider commented, “Both of them were having issues with each other.

The differences added up over time. It’s really sad for the children, but also the parents. Divorce, especially one so high-profile, can be challenging for the whole family.”

The insider added, “They both care about the children,” emphasizing that despite their ongoing disputes, the well-being of their kids remains a priority for both parents.

However, another source indicated that Pitt, 60, has “virtually no contact” with their adult children, although he maintains visitation rights with the younger ones per his agreement with Jolie, 49.

The negotiation process remains unresolved, with both sides still engaged in discussions. “Both sides are still talking, but it’s not done yet,” the source said.

While their divorce proceedings continue, both Jolie and Pitt have kept busy with their professional lives. Pitt has been filming the upcoming F1 movie in the U.K., where he has been spotted spending time with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon.

Meanwhile, Jolie recently won a Tony Award for her role as a producer on Broadway’s “The Outsiders.” According to sources, Jolie remains focused on her children and her work during this challenging period.

Adding to the complexity of their relationship is a separate legal battle over their French winery, Château Miraval. Pitt sued Jolie for selling her shares in the winery without his approval, alleging that she defied an agreement they had.

Jolie has countered by stating she didn’t want to sign the NDA that accompanied Pitt’s deal, as it would have silenced her from speaking about Pitt or his past behavior. Pitt’s legal team, however, has argued that the NDA was a standard business move.

Paul Murphy, Jolie’s lawyer, previously commented on the winery dispute, stating, “Angelina looks forward to the eventual end of this litigation with its false narratives that continue to hurt the family and interfere with their ability to heal.”

Pitt’s lawyers have accused Jolie in court filings of trying to turn this business dispute into a re-litigation of their divorce case, adding yet another layer to their contentious relationship.

The ongoing bitterness and legal wrangling between Jolie and Pitt highlight the emotional toll their split has taken on their family. The hope among those close to the couple is that they can eventually find a resolution that allows them and their children to heal.
