Allison Holker, the wife of the late Stephen “tWitch” Boss, is opening up about her life after his tragic death. Stephen, a well-loved dancer and DJ from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, died by suicide in December 2022 at the age of 40. Now, Allison is sharing her story in a new book called This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light. The book, which comes out on February 4, talks about how she has been healing, how she remembers Stephen, and how she is helping others.

In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Allison described the deep sadness and anger she felt after Stephen’s death. “The last two years, I’ve been hit with one hard thing after another,” she said. “I’m learning that it’s okay to feel sad, angry, or confused sometimes.”

In her book, Allison talks about the challenges Stephen faced before his death. She says it hurts to know that he kept his struggles to himself. “He was always so strong for everyone,” she said. After his passing, Allison decided to turn her pain into something positive. She started the Move With Kindness Foundation to honor Stephen and support mental health causes.

Allison hopes her story will encourage others to talk about their feelings and ask for help. “If someone is struggling with their mental health, I want them to know they’re not alone,” she said. “If you ask for help, someone can help you find the light again.”

Allison and her three children—Weslie, 16, Maddox, 8, and Zaia, 5—have been working on healing together. They began therapy in 2023, and Allison has learned to accept her own emotions. “For the last two years, I focused so much on helping my family get through everything,” she said. “But I realized I needed to heal too.”

Even though many of her memories with Stephen are now tied to sadness, Allison is working to remember the good times they had as a family. “He was such a great dad, and we shared such a great love,” she said. “I don’t want every memory to make me sad or angry.”

Allison also knows she and her kids may never find complete closure. “I’m still trying to understand that,” she admitted. “That’s why therapy has been so helpful.”

Allison and her kids recently moved to a new home to start fresh. “Our old house carried so many heavy emotions and memories,” she explained. “When we moved, it felt like we could finally take a deep breath.”

In 2024, Allison became a judge on So You Think You Can Dance, a dance competition show. She also plans to start a podcast with Weslie, her oldest daughter. Allison says she wants her children to grow up strong and ready to face life’s challenges. “Things are going to come your way, and that’s okay,” she said. “Just keep moving forward.”

Allison has also started dating again and is now in a relationship with tech CEO Adam Edmunds. She says she is focused on becoming the best version of herself. “I want to find out who I am now, not who I was before Stephen or with him,” she said. “I know I can do it.”

With her book and her story, Allison hopes to inspire others to talk about their feelings and seek help if they need it. “It’s important to share the truth,” she said. “You don’t have to go through life alone.”

Allison’s book, This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light, will be available on February 4 and can be preordered now.
