Amazon MGM Studios has tapped Adria Arjona to join Michael B. Jordan in the upcoming reimagining of the classic romantic heist film, The Thomas Crown Affair.

According to Variety, Arjona steps into the co‑lead role after Taylor Russell’s departure, rounding out a cast that already includes Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk and Aiysha Hart. The film is directed by Jordan himself and is shooting now in London, with a slated theatrical release on March 5, 2027.

Drew Pearce penned the current screenplay, building on an earlier draft by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt‑Gibson that paid homage to the original 1968 movie starring Steve McQueen.

Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo are producing under the Outlier Society banner, alongside Charles Roven of Atlas Entertainment; Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff of Toberoff Productions also serve as producers. Alan Trustman, who wrote the 1968 script, holds an executive producer credit.

Arjona arrives on this project amid a notable career upswing. She earned widespread acclaim for her role in Disney+’s Andor, which secured 14 Primetime Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.

More recently, she starred in Zoe Kravitz’s psychological thriller Blink Twice for Amazon MGM, sharing the screen with Naomi Ackie, Channing Tatum, Simon Rex, Christian Slater and Geena Davis.

She’s also set to appear in the Prime Video crime anthology Criminal. Outside of Amazon, DC Studios co‑chief James Gunn publicly praised her as a potential Wonder Woman, recalling their collaboration on 2016’s The Belko Experiment—though no formal discussions about the superhero role have taken place.

On the big‑screen front, Arjona co‑executive produced and starred in Neon’s comedy Splitsville opposite Dakota Johnson, Michael Angelo Covino and Kyle Marvin; the film premiered at Cannes and opens in U.S. theaters on August 22.

She has wrapped production on A24’s action thriller Onslaught, directed by Adam Wingard, and recently appeared in Richard Linklater’s crime‑comedy Hit Man with Glen Powell. Her breakout performance in the true‑story drama Los Frikis earned her the Latino Breakout Award from the Latino Entertainment Journalists Association.

Additional credits include roles in Father of the Bride, Irma Vep, Six Underground, Good Omens, Pacific Rim: Uprising, Emerald City, True Detective and Narcos.

Arjona is represented by CAA, Anonymous Content, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, Goodman Genow Schenkman Smelkinson & Christopher, LLP, and The Lede Company.
