Famous singer and actress Cher has officially announced that she is supporting Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election.
Cher shared her decision in a video posted on her social media accounts, including X (formerly known as Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok.
In the video, Cher explained that she has been a fan of Kamala Harris since she was a senator for California. “I have followed Kamala Harris since she was my U.S. senator,” Cher said. “She fought for me then, and she is fighting for all of us now. That’s why I’m proudly voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”
Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota, is running as Harris’s vice president. Cher said she believes both Harris and Walz are committed to protecting the rights of Americans.
She encouraged others to make sure their votes count too. “I know they will fight to protect our rights, and I’m so grateful to be able to make my voice count this year. I hope you will too,” she added.
Cher is just one of many celebrities supporting Harris in her campaign against former President Donald Trump. Other stars, like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Bruce Springsteen, and Marc Anthony, have also shown their support.
During the Democratic National Convention earlier this year, John Legend and Stevie Wonder performed to show their backing for Harris.
Earlier in July, Cher also shared her thoughts on President Joe Biden deciding not to run for another term. She said it was a tough moment for her since she has supported Biden since 2008.
While she still cares about him, Cher believes the Democratic Party might need to try something new to win.
By endorsing Kamala Harris, Cher is encouraging Americans to vote in what is expected to be a close and important election.
