Mariah Carey recently shared her funny thoughts about a surprising annoyance — overhead lighting. In a clip from an upcoming episode of iHeart Radio’s Las Culturistas Podcast, the music legend talked about how much she dislikes the kind of lighting found in public places.
“I can’t with the overhead lighting,” Mariah said. “Why do they do it to us? Actually, it’s not really ‘us,’ it’s me. I’m the one tortured by it.”
She joked about avoiding places with bad lighting, listing places like elevators and gyms. “Not that I go to the gym,” she added with a laugh. “But the lighting there is still awful.”

Mariah said she likes natural sunlight — but only at certain times. “The sun is okay if it’s sunset. I’ll go outside with a little hat because that light makes your skin look nice,” she explained.
But when it comes to harsh, overhead lights, she’s had enough. “Everywhere I go, shut the lights! I don’t want to see them no more. It makes me sick!” she joked.
The full episode will be available on Wednesday, October 16, giving fans a closer look at Mariah’s sense of humor.
This isn’t the only time Mariah has made fans laugh recently. On October 2, she posted a funny video from her private jet. In the clip, her hit Christmas song All I Want for Christmas Is You started playing, and the pilot announced they were “headed to the North Pole.”

Mariah quickly responded, “Not yet, sorry,” and added, “They always rush me,” joking about how people start celebrating the holidays earlier every year.
