Netflix is charting a course for more high-seas drama: the streamer has officially renewed its live-action adaptation of One Piece for Season 3, announcing the news during the annual One Piece Day celebration in Tokyo.

Fans also received their first peek at Season 2, which is officially titled One Piece: Into the Grand Line and is slated to arrive on Netflix in 2026.

The renewal comes with a creative update: Ian Stokes, who served as a co-executive producer on Season 1, will join Joe Tracz as co-showrunner for Season 3. Production for the upcoming season is set to begin later this year in Cape Town, South Africa, with the promise of larger sets and more ambitious sea-bound sequences.

Netflix released several first-look images from Season 2 alongside the announcement, teasing the Straw Hats’ entry into the perilous and unpredictable Grand Line.

The official synopsis hints at fiercer adversaries and stranger islands as Luffy and his crew chase the world’s greatest treasure. While no premiere date has been locked in, the 2026 window gives viewers a rough timeline for the next wave of episodes.

The core cast returns, led by Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, with Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp and Taz Skylar as Sanji. Season 2 will also bring notable additions including David Dastmalchian (Mr. 3), Katey Sagal (Dr. Kureha), Sendhil Ramamurthy (Nefertari Cobra) and Joe Manganiello (Mr. 0).

A broader ensemble list rounds out the roster, signaling that the show is leaning into the manga’s sprawling character lineup.

The series has seen several behind-the-scenes shifts: originally developed by Matt Owens and Steven Maeda, the show experienced multiple showrunner changes—Maeda departed ahead of Season 2 and Owens later stepped away—making the Stokes–Tracz partnership for Season 3 a notable stabilizing move.

Creator Eiichiro Oda remains an executive producer, and Tomorrow Studios continues to produce the series alongside Netflix.

Reaction online has been a mixture of excitement and cautious optimism as fans weigh the live-action’s faithfulness to the beloved source material. For now, followers of the Straw Hats can celebrate one thing: their voyage isn’t over.
