Lindsay Hubbard, star of the TV show Summer House, has just welcomed her baby girl, Gemma, into the world on December 8. Even though she doesn’t live with her boyfriend, who is Gemma’s dad, Lindsay says he has been very supportive and by her side since their daughter was born.
In a preview for season 9 of Summer House, one of Lindsay’s castmates, Danielle Olivera, seemed surprised to learn that Lindsay and her boyfriend weren’t living together while expecting a baby. “I just don’t want it to feel like you’re doing this alone,” Danielle told Lindsay.
But Lindsay shared that after talking more with Danielle, she was able to explain her decision. “We went to lunch, and when I explained the whole situation, she said, ‘Oh, now I understand,’” Lindsay said. “Two years ago, she thought I was moving too fast in my relationships. Now, she’s telling me to move in before I’m ready. It’s funny how things change!”
Lindsay explained that she and her boyfriend are taking their time before moving in together. Since her pregnancy happened only a few months after they started dating, she didn’t want to rush into living together and risk adding extra stress to their relationship.
“If I’ve learned one thing from my past relationships, it’s that nothing is certain,” Lindsay said. “Pregnancy and a baby already bring a lot of big responsibilities. I wanted to take it one step at a time.”
While they aren’t living together yet, her boyfriend has been spending most of his time at her apartment. “This is my apartment, but it’s become our home base for me and Gemma,” Lindsay explained. “He brought over some clothes and other things, and he’s here almost all the time with me and Gemma.”
She also shared that moving in together is something they are thinking about for the future. “My lease is up in June, and we’ve talked about things like school districts for Gemma,” Lindsay said. “We’re thinking about the best decisions for her in the long term.”
Now that Lindsay has her baby at home, she says she’s feeling happy, even though she’s a little tired. “Aside from being slightly sleep-deprived, I feel great,” she said. “My heart is so full. You hear other parents talk about how much they love their kids, and now I completely understand that feeling.”
For the holidays, Lindsay plans to stay at home in New York City and keep things simple. Since Gemma is still so young, they don’t want to travel or be around too many people. “We’ll just have a quiet, peaceful Christmas at home,” she said.
Fans of Summer House will see more of Lindsay’s journey during the new season of the show, which begins February 12. She said she’s looking forward to watching the show this time, especially since the last two seasons were hard for her.
Last year, the show focused on Lindsay’s breakup with her former fiancé, Carl Radke, which was a tough time for her. But this year, things are different. “I’m so excited to watch this season,” Lindsay said. “I’m in love with my baby girl, and I even miss being pregnant. Watching those moments will be emotional, but I think it will also be very special.”
As Lindsay embraces her new life as a mom, fans will get to see her balance motherhood, relationships, and life in the Hamptons when Summer House returns in February.
