When it was time for Grier Henchy to choose a dress for her high school graduation, she didn’t need to look far—just a quick trip to her mom’s closet. Grier, 18, decided to wear the wedding dress her mother, Brooke Shields, wore when she married Andre Agassi back in 1997.

The decision was special for both mother and daughter. Shields shared that the dress needed a few tweaks to fit Grier’s style. “We had to re-bone it a little bit so it was tight and sleek,” Grier said. The poofy parts were taken out, and the dress was made strapless to give it a modern look.

“She looked great in it,” Shields said, clearly proud of her daughter. She added, “It’s such an honor when they want to wear your stuff. Normally they don’t think I’m cool.”

For Shields, seeing the dress worn again by her daughter was more than just a fashion statement. It brought back memories of her time with Agassi, whom she divorced in 1999. “He’s a good guy, so to me it was really like a big full circle moment,” she reflected.

This isn’t the first time one of Shields’s daughters has worn something from her famous wardrobe. In 2021, Grier’s older sister, Rowan, wore a red dress designed by Richard Tyler that Shields had worn to the 1998 Golden Globes. Rowan had been looking through her mom’s old dresses for a TikTok and decided the red dress was perfect for prom.

Shields, who is now adjusting to life as an empty nester, is thrilled that her daughters are breathing new life into her old outfits. “Honestly, they can wear anything because just to have it have another life… it feels good,” she said.
