Apple TV+ renews ‘Slow Horses’ for Season 7. Gary Oldman returns as Jackson Lamb in the hit spy drama packed with humor, action, and high-stakes thrills.

Apple TV+ has officially given the green light to a seventh season of Slow Horses, its darkly comic spy drama that has captivated audiences and critics alike.
The newly confirmed season will consist of six episodes, continuing the misadventures of MI5’s most inept operatives as they navigate the perilous—and often absurd—world of espionage.
Based on the best-selling novels by Mick Herron, Slow Horses centers on Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman), a brilliant but slovenly intelligence officer exiled to Slough House as punishment for a career-ending mistake.
Alongside him at this dreary outpost are River Cartwright (Jack Lowden), a hotshot agent demoted after a public failure; Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung), a tech whiz with social anxieties; Louisa Guy (Rosalind Eleazar), a single mother trying to rebuild her life; and Catherine Standish (Saskia Reeves), a former psychologist battling alcoholism.
Dubbed the “slow horses,” this ragtag team somehow manages to foil high-stakes plots—often by bungling their way into success.
Season 5 is set to premiere on September 24, promising viewers more sharp-edged humor and jolting action sequences.
In the upcoming sixth season, announced last year, the Slow Horses find themselves on the run after crossing paths with their old rival Taverner in a tense game of retaliation and revenge.
With season 7 now underway, fans can expect the same signature blend of wry British wit and pulse-pounding thrills that made the show a standout.
Behind the scenes, Season 7 will be adapted for television and executive produced by Ben Vanstone, who has overseen the series’ faithful translation from page to screen.
Robert McKillop, known for his work in character-driven dramas, is attached to direct.
Their combined vision aims to deepen the Slow Horses’ world—one where even the flakiest of spies can uncover deadly conspiracies.
Jay Hunt, Apple TV+’s creative director for Europe, praised the series’ uniquely entertaining mix of self-deprecating humor and high-octane action. “Slow Horses has won fans all over the world,” Hunt said, “thanks to Gary’s magnificent performance as Jackson Lamb and the team’s slightly inept spycraft that somehow saves the day.”
His remarks underscore how Oldman’s sardonic portrayal anchors the show, turning a ragtag squad of rejects into an irresistible television phenomenon.
Since its debut, Slow Horses has racked up critical acclaim and awards recognition.
The third season alone earned nine Primetime Emmy nominations, including a win for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, cementing its status as one of television’s most innovative spy thrillers.
Produced by See-Saw Films—which was recently acquired by Mediawan—Slow Horses has become one of Apple TV+’s flagship series.
Executive producers Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Dan Hassid, Mick Herron, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski and Oldman himself continue to shepherd the show, ensuring that each season stays true to the novels’ dark humor and intricate plotting.
With Season 7 on the horizon, the slow horses are ready to saddle up once more—and viewers couldn’t be more thrilled.
