Jenny McCarthy, known for her candidness, recently opened up about an embarrassing moment she experienced while co-hosting “The View.”

The incident, which occurred during her stint on the popular daytime talk show in 2013-2014, was shared during a conversation with Kelly Ripa on the July 17 episode of Ripa’s podcast, “Let’s Talk Off Camera.”

McCarthy, 51, did not hold back as she recounted the awkward scenario. Ripa prompted the confession by asking McCarthy to share any unusual or memorable stories from her time on “The View.”

Without hesitation, McCarthy launched into the tale, which she assured, despite its initial horror, now serves as a humorous memory.

“I have some stories from there, and given, all of them turn funny,” McCarthy began. She described a moment when she was seated on the show’s light-colored couch, conducting an interview.

As she conversed with the guest, whom she can no longer recall, she suddenly felt the onset of her period. McCarthy vividly remembered her immediate reaction: “all of a sudden my eyes go wide.”

The timing and the circumstances could not have been worse. McCarthy explained that at the time, she was dealing with perimenopause, a transitional phase before menopause that often brings irregular and heavy menstrual cycles.

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, perimenopause is “marked by changes in the menstrual cycle, along with other physical and emotional symptoms.”

WebMD also notes that “heavy bleeding is common among women transitioning into menopause.”

McCarthy’s account of the incident was both relatable and graphic. “I just feel like this rush of a period, and when in your 40s, when you’re perimenopausal, you bleed out. You basically hemorrhage, you know, your uterus falls out,” she said, adding, “I’m sorry. But it does.”

Sitting there in a dress, McCarthy’s immediate concern was to avoid an on-camera disaster. She instinctively crossed her legs tighter, hoping to prevent any visible signs of her menstrual flow.

However, she quickly realized that she couldn’t just get up and walk away without risking further embarrassment. She wrapped up the interview early but remained seated as everyone else moved on.

“I just sit there,” she recalled. “So now everybody’s doing something else, gone, and I’m sitting by myself. And I’m like trying to talk to someone. But I didn’t wanna say over the microphone, ‘I got my period. Please help me.’”

McCarthy’s predicament eventually caught someone’s attention. When she explained her situation, the advice she received was far from reassuring. The person told her, “It’s gonna be fine, just get up and run.”

But McCarthy knew this was not a viable option. “No, you don’t understand perimenopausal periods. This is going to be a disaster. You have to push me out with the couch,” she retorted.

The situation was eventually resolved, but not without its challenges. McCarthy managed to “glide past everybody” and make her way backstage.

However, once there, it was clear that the incident had left its mark. The crew and cast members were visibly horrified by the sight of the blood.

Ripa, known for her humor, couldn’t resist making a joke about the incident, comparing it to a horror film. “Talk about a scary movie,” she quipped. McCarthy, reflecting on the experience, took it in stride.

Despite the initial embarrassment, she now views the incident as one of many crazy yet laughable moments in her career.

McCarthy’s story is a testament to the unpredictable nature of live television and the very human experiences that come with it.
