Kate Hudson has hinted at the possibility of revisiting her iconic role alongside Matthew McConaughey in the beloved romantic comedy “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days”.

In a recent interview on Watch What Happens Live, the actress expressed openness to the idea of a sequel, emphasizing that the quality of the script would be crucial.

The 2003 film, based on Michele Alexander and Jeannie Long’s book of the same name, follows the story of magazine writer Andie Anderson (played by Hudson) and advertising executive Benjamin Barry (played by McConaughey).

Their paths collide in a comedic whirlwind when Andie undertakes to write an article about how to lose a guy in 10 days, while Benjamin, as part of a bet, tries to make a woman fall in love with him within the same timeframe.

During the interview with host Andy Cohen, Hudson revealed, “I think they’re always thinking about that,” in reference to a potential sequel.

She emphasized that both she and McConaughey would need to be captivated by the script to consider reprising their roles. “All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script,” she added.

McConaughey, who previously expressed interest in returning to the film, described “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” as a standout romantic comedy that remains beloved by audiences.

“It’s teed up for one that you could easily do a sequel,” he remarked in a 2020 interview with E!’s Daily Pop. Reflecting on the enduring appeal of the movie, McConaughey noted, “People still love that one. I enjoyed that one quite a bit.”

Despite ongoing speculation from fans about a sequel, Hudson clarified in a 2023 interview with Vanity Fair that there were no concrete plans in motion.

“People always ask us [about a sequel] but there’s nothing in the works,” she stated. However, the actress expressed her fondness for working with McConaughey and hinted that they might collaborate again in the future.

Looking ahead to the fictional future of their characters, Andie and Ben, Hudson shared her hopes for their storyline.

“My hope is that [Andie and Ben] are happy, they’ve got a bunch of kids, they got married, and they’re still playing Bullshit with his parents,” she mused.

While envisioning possible conflicts in a sequel, she acknowledged the potential for new challenges in the couple’s journey.
