Natalie Portman, a highly celebrated actress known for her diverse roles, recently shared that one of the most significant experiences in her career was a cameo in the beloved animated series Bluey.

During her appearance on the Today show on July 15, Portman reflected on her involvement in the third season of the show while also promoting her new Apple TV+ series, Lady in the Lake.

While discussing her latest projects, Portman mentioned that she had a role in Bluey‘s season 3 episode titled “Whale Watching.”

Host Hoda Kotb was pleasantly surprised to learn about this, considering Portman’s illustrious career. Portman, however, expressed deep affection for her cameo, stating it was one of her “most important” roles.

“I was a narrator of a nature documentary that they were watching,” Portman explained, referring to her voice role in the episode. “It’s a very important show for my family and I was really, really honored to get to be part of it.”

Portman, who has two children, Aleph, 13, and Amalia, 7, with her ex-husband Benjamin Millepied, emphasized how much the show means to her family. She fondly described the experience as “pure joy.”

In “Whale Watching,” Portman’s voice brings to life the “Whale Doco Narrator,” who describes the journey of whales in a documentary that the characters are watching on TV.

This narration serves as a backdrop for an imaginative play session involving Bluey, Bingo, and their tired dad. When Portman’s character says, “Whales travel extremely long distances into warm waters to have their babies.

They stay with them all the way back to the colder waters. There’s nothing a whale mom wouldn’t do for her children,” it prompts Bluey’s mom to join in the fun, creating a touching family moment.

Portman is not the only star to have appeared on Bluey. The show, known for its heartwarming stories and charming characters, has also featured guest appearances by celebrities such as Eva Mendes, Rose Byrne, and Robert Irwin.

Portman’s appearance on Today coincided with her recent 43rd birthday, which she celebrated in June. She marked the occasion with a heartfelt Instagram post on June 10, expressing gratitude for her friends and sharing photos with them.

“This year, on my birthday, I want to celebrate my gratitude for my friends who lift me up again and again,” Portman wrote in the caption.

The upcoming release of Lady in the Lake is highly anticipated. The series, set to premiere on Apple TV+ on July 19, will launch its first two episodes, with new episodes following every Friday until August 12.

Lady in the Lake is expected to captivate audiences with its intriguing storyline and Portman’s stellar performance.

Portman’s varied career has seen her take on a range of roles, from dramatic performances in films like Black Swan, for which she won an Academy Award, to more lighthearted parts in movies such as Thor.

However, her role in Bluey holds a special place in her heart due to its connection with her family.

Bluey, an Australian animated series, has gained widespread acclaim for its portrayal of family life through the adventures of Bluey, a six-year-old Blue Heeler puppy.

The show has resonated with audiences around the world, winning several awards and becoming a favorite among both children and parents.

Its ability to capture everyday moments and transform them into meaningful stories is a testament to its creators’ skill and vision.

For Portman, participating in a show that brings so much joy and positivity to families aligns perfectly with her own values and experiences as a mother.

Her cameo as the “Whale Doco Narrator” in Bluey may be brief, but it encapsulates the warmth and affection that the show embodies.
